Fail to prepare, then prepare to fail.

Windy

With the ‘Beast From The East’ about about to collide with ‘Storm Emma’ and deliver snow to Ireland, many businesses are facing the possibility that they may need to close their premises and have staff stay at home. However, just because your office is closed does not mean that your business has to close.  All our telecoms services can be accessed remotely meaning our customers can stay operational throughout the snow and have their staff answer their office phones from home.

Here’s a few ways our customers can ensure they never miss a call throughout the disruption:

1. Take your deskphone/handset home with you

This is the easiest and simplest way to receive calls at home. Just take your deskphone home with you. Plug it into your broadband and you can receive calls as if you were in the office. The cloud-based nature of our services means you are not tied to a phoneline in your office. Once you plug your phone in at home it automatically reconnects to our servers and delivers your calls via the number that is assigned to the phone.

2. Redirect Your Number

All your VoIP numbers can be easily redirected to your mobile phone. Just give us a call on 015447888 and we can divert them for you.

Or you can easily redirect them yourself, through your MyGoldfish Control Panel. Instructions on how to do this can by found in the ‘Diverting Calls’ section of our Help page here.

If your company uses our Call Director / IVR service for your main business numbers, you can also easily also redirect those numbers to your mobile in the same way as above.

3. Use our Cloud Phone

cloud phone

A few months ago we launched Ireland’s first Cloud Phone called the Babelphone, so our customers can now make and receive calls through their web-browser without the need for handset or softphone. You can access the Babelphone here goldfish.ie/babelphone. Find out how to login remotely below.

4. Use A Softphone

A softphone can be downloaded to your PC, mac or tablet so you can make and receive calls through a piece of software on you desktop. For Windows users your MyGoldfish Control Panel includes a free 3CX softhone, that comes preconfigured for each Direct Dial VoIP number. Just click the phone number you want to use in Your Numbers  and scroll down to ‘Voice over IP settings’ see below,

3CX

For Macs we recommend using TELEPHONE or the X-LITE softphones. Details on all softphones can be found in our Help Section.

5. Use an App

You can make and receive calls through all your numbers via an app on a smartphone or tablet. The app we recommend is the GS Wave, which is manufactured by GRANDSTREAM, the company that makes the VoIP handsets that we sell.

Here are the links to download the GS Wave app from both the App Store and Google for Android.

LOGGING IN REMOTELY

Each direct dial VoIP number has its own unique VoIP Username and VoIP Password. These are  all our customers need to login remotely to use our Cloud Phone, any of our softphones or the Grandstream Wave apps. These details can be found in the ‘Voice over IP’ of the Your Numbers section on your MyGoldfish Control Panel (see the image in Softphone above).

LASTLY…..

Our Support Team will remain fully operation during any weather disruption. We provide full phone support for any help you need, so if you need assistance with any of the above then please call us 015547888 or email support@goldfish.ie. Our team operate between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

Good luck and see you on the other side.

Uprise Festival

Goldfish’s founder and CEO recently spoke at the UPRISE Festival in Dublin. UPRISE is not your normal tech event, it has been styled on the theme of an outdoor music festival, with DJs, a laidback bean-bag-approach to business and picnic tables for exhibitors instead of stands. It was great to be at such a quirky tech event and we even took a Lotus Exige sports with us that we sponsor; it went down a treat (you can see it here).

Yesterday  we attended the UPRISE Festival in the Dublin’s RDS and took the nice Lotus Exige sports. It is driven by Lloyd Spendlove and sponsor it every year. But that wasn’t the star of the show, that our new web-phone the Babelfi, which launched at event.

The Babelfish is the first web-phone to be developed by an Irish company. It allows calls to be made directly from within a web-browser. So it is perfect for hot-desking, remote workers and companies, such as call centres, that want to streamline their operations.

Fans of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy will recognise the name. It was the fish that put into Arthur Dent’s ear to translate what the aliens were saying. This won’t translate foreign languages, but it will translate what you say into zeros and ones and send it across the super-fast VoIP ne

The Babelfish has been designed by Goldfish as an alternative to traditional softphones, in order to simplify how their customers, make and receive calls.  Some of the larger companies they work with have requested a cloud-based phone that can be accessed by their staff from anywhere, without the need for a download and configuration.  The result is the Babelfish, which can be accessed via a simple link, with all calls made and received encrypted within a web-browser.

CLOUD TELECOMS FIRM GOLDFISH HAS BEEFED UP ITS SALES                                                     TEAM WITH SENIOR SALES PROFESSIONAL JONATHAN BUNCE

The Greystones based company’s new ‘Head of Sales and Business             Development’ aims to target its cloud services to large blue-chip companies

19th June, 2017; Greystones, Wicklow, Ireland: Cloud telecoms company Goldfish.ie has today announced its hiring of experienced technology sales professional, Jonathan Bunce, to fill the new role of ‘Head of Sales and Business Development’. Set up in 2010, the firm is undergoing rapid growth. The number of Irish companies signing up for its VoIP telecoms services is continuing to increase. It also now provides Software as a Service (SaaS), with demand beginning to take off for Quvu, its cloud-based contact centre management software.

Jonathan has 22 years’ experience in front line sales roles for major tech companies in Ireland and the UK.  He moved to Ireland in 2006 to join the management team at eircom PhoneWatch. In over 8 years at eircom he had considerable success, leading multiple call centres and increasing customers by 75%.  Before moving to Goldfish he spent time in the e-learning sector driving expansion into the global telecoms market and East Asia.

Gordon O’Neill, Goldfish’s CEO, said “Over the past 7 years we have established ourselves as a major provider of Cloud Telecoms VoIP services. While this remains the core of our business, the area where we are seeing the largest growth in demand, is for ‘Quvu’, our cloud-based contact centre management software. The tech sector changes rapidly, so you have to think ahead and listen to your customers. What we are hearing is that companies want the ability to license software and services through the Cloud, so we believe this supply model will be a key area of future growth for us. We needed to bring in an experienced tech-sales professional to help us achieve this and Jonathan Bunce fitted the bill perfectly.”

Specialist recruitment agency Red Tree Recruitment was appointed to handle the hiring process.
