YOUR VOIP QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Here we answer, in a none technical way, the most common questions people have on VoIP. Such as: what is VoIP? How does it work? How can I upgrade my phone system to VoIP to improve performance and save costs?
What is VoIP?
VoIP stands for ‘Voice over Internet Protocol’. This sounds like quite a technical term but all it means is making and receiving voice phone calls over the internet instead of through a traditional copper phone line and hardware telephone exchange.
How does VoIP work?
If you are an exporter of company that has overseas clients or customers then we can help you lower your call costs. Calling international numbers doesn’t have to be expensive if you have a VoIP telephone account, so that your calls can be routed over the internet, which is much cheaper than traditional phone services.
We offer some very low cost international calls’ tarrifs. For example our customers can ring any number in the mainland US for only 1.2c per minute. That applies to all mobiles or landlines and at all times, including peak hours. The phone market in the USA doesn’t differentiate between mobiles (cellphones) or landlines and there is no peak or off-peak, so you can actually call the mainland USA at a cheaper rate than you can call Irish landlines. The only difference is that a small connection fee of 1.2c is charged per call. Hawaii and Alaska are slightly more but still great value.
Call charges to any number in mainland USA, including mobiles is on only 1.2c per minute. See our Call Charges page for further details.
Set up is immediate so you can making low cost calls to the US today.

New to VoIP?
We provide some high specification handsfree conference calls phones for our customers; check out page two our phones for some great Polycom and Grandstream conference call phones.
While they are great for one or two people, if you are having a large conference call then a dial-in telephone conferencing facility is more convenient. We provide unlimited conference call facilities for only €2 per month and all you pay for is the call. That means you can have as many people on the conference call as you require.
How does it worK? It’s is very simple: we give you and your colleagues a number to dial with a PIN number. Any whom wishes to join the conference call then dials in separately from their own phones. It is a great service and one that our customers use a lot.

Our latest wonder of the week brings back images of white suits and screaming girls. But since his boy band heyday, Keith Duffy, Ireland’s favourite member of Boy Zone (sorry Ronan) has moved into the world of tyres with Tyreland.
Now we think they missed a trick by not renaming the company Tyre Zone in Keith’s honour, but by the time he partnered with the company last year, Tyreland were already a well established and respected brand across Dublin.
Just like us, Tyreland began trading 7 years ago during the recession and has grown steadily since. Tyreland are now using Goldfish’s VoIP telecoms services in all six of their branches. Five across Dublin: Glasnevin, Clarehall, Sword, Kimmage and Clearwater; and a sixth branch in Navan. The company already employs 20 staff and is looking for further sites for expansion.
Tyreland offer great value for money – saving motorists up to 20% on their new tyres – and now they also do mobile tyre fitting. So, if you can’t get to any of their branches, Tyreland Mobile will come to you and change your tyres on the spot, at home, work, or given the fine weather, even down the beach. What’s not to love?
Check out their website for more details: Tyreland.ie
Given Keith’s showbusiness heritage it was only a matter of time before he got in on the action and started to help the promote Tyreland on camera. Check out the videos below.
