What is VoIP?
VoIP stands for ‘Voice over Internet Protocol’. This sounds like quite a technical term but all it means is making and receiving voice phone calls over the internet instead of through a traditional copper phone line and hardware telephone exchange.
If you are an exporter of company that has overseas clients or customers then we can help you lower your call costs. Calling international numbers doesn’t have to be expensive if you have a VoIP telephone account, so that your calls can be routed over the internet, which is much cheaper than traditional phone services.
We offer some very low cost international calls’ tarrifs. For example our customers can ring any number in the mainland US for only 1.2c per minute. That applies to all mobiles or landlines and at all times, including peak hours. The phone market in the USA doesn’t differentiate between mobiles (cellphones) or landlines and there is no peak or off-peak, so you can actually call the mainland USA at a cheaper rate than you can call Irish landlines. The only difference is that a small connection fee of 1.2c is charged per call. Hawaii and Alaska are slightly more but still great value.

Goldfish’s founder and CEO recently spoke at the UPRISE Festival in Dublin. UPRISE is not your normal tech event, it has been styled on the theme of an outdoor music festival, with DJs, a laidback bean-bag-approach to business and picnic tables for exhibitors instead of stands. It was great to be at such a quirky tech event and we even took a Lotus Exige sports with us that we sponsor; it went down a treat (you can see it here).
While they are great for one or two people, if you are having a large conference call then a dial-in telephone conferencing facility is more convenient. How does it worK? It’s is very simple: we give you and your colleagues a number to dial with a PIN number. Any whom wishes to join the conference call then dials in separately from their own phones. It is a great service and one that our customers use a lot.
